Jeanne Susplugas is a French multimedia artist, born in Montpellier in 1974 and based in Paris. Since the late 1990s her work has circled two connected obsessions: pharmacology and confinement. Raised in a family of pharmaceutical researchers, she treats the medicine cabinet as a portrait of contemporary life — the pill as both remedy and poison, the pharmakon — and builds from it installations, sculptures, photographs, videos, and drawings, including the Containers drawing series she has pursued since 2007, modeled on American pharmaceutical bottles. The other strand is enclosure: habitable structures, carapaces, and domestic interiors that comfort and imprison at once.

Wild Project Gallery opened its 2016 season with her: Disorder – Wild Project Gallery, Luxembourg (21 Jan – 5 Mar 2016), catalogued here as WPG.03, the third entry in the gallery's documented program and its first solo exhibition of the year. The show's title condensed her territory — the ordinary disorders, chemical and domestic, that her objects diagnose. The exhibition survives in the public record through the gallery's archived pages.

Of the eleven artists on the gallery's roster, Susplugas has since become the most institutionally active. The pivot of her recent work is I Will Sleep When I'm Dead, a virtual-reality experience developed after conversations with neuroscientists: the viewer descends into a skull, drifts among neurons and synapses, and crosses paths with more than three hundred "thoughts" drawn as pictograms, gathered from interviews in which people were asked what they were thinking. The work has circulated internationally, from the Institut français's digital-creation catalogue to a solo presentation at La Patinoire Royale – Galerie Valérie Bach in Brussels.
